Is Central Asia Muslim-friendly?
Yes, Central Asia is Muslim-friendly, as Islam is the dominant religion in countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Most Muslims in the region follow Sunni Islam, and Islamic traditions are deeply rooted in daily life.
Halal food is widely available, and mosques are present in cities and towns. Friday prayers and Ramadan are observed across the region.
However, due to Soviet influence, many areas retain a secular outlook, and Islamic practices can vary in strictness. Modest clothing is appreciated but not strictly required. Overall, Central Asia offers a welcoming environment for Muslim travelers, blending tradition with cultural diversity.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes, though options may be limited. Local dishes like lagman and plov often include meat, but you can request plant-based or modified versions. Dairy is fairly common in traditional dishes. There is always alternatives to choose from. Bigger cities like Almaty, Bishkek, and Tashkent have vegan-friendly cafes and international cuisine.
